LOCATION The moment I saw the brilliant, proud morning shine high up Santa Fe has long attracted artists and writers to its stunning setting and vibrant community. Our conference takes place at the St. Francis Hotel, in the heart of the city. Participants can experience the unique mix of cultures that has always characterized New Mexico, sample world-class museums and restaurants, or escape into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. At 7000 feet, Santa Fe days are warm and the nights cool, a wonderful environment for your visit. ![]() Photo ©Jack Parsons The Hotel St. Francis, a historic inn with 82 guest rooms, a restaurant, a bar and group meeting facilities, is just one block southwest of the historic Santa Fe Plaza. Renovated in 1986, the original hotel was built in 1923 and has a unique charm created by the combination of 1920s' style and distinctly Southwestern elements such as clay tile floors and wrought iron chandeliers in the lobby. (Please note that due to the age of the hotel it is not wheelchair friendly and participants will have to climb and descend a small flight of stairs to access the conference events.) Each of the guest rooms is unique and includes comfortable furnishings as well as a refrigerator, personal safe, remote-control television and individually controlled thermostat. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Artist's Pub features a light menu from mid-afternoon until late in the evening. The majority of guest rooms contain a double bed. A small number have king or twin beds. Room reservations should be made directly with the Hotel St. Francis. A limited number of rooms have been set aside for conference participants at a special conference rate. (Contact Hotel St. Francis, 210 Don Gaspar Ave., Santa Fe, NM 87501 (800) 529-5700. You may also email your reservations to reservations@hotelstfrancis.com. Mention you are with the Santa Fe Writers Conference in order to get the special room rate.) Other accommodations are available nearby, but please make reservations early.
